We were looking for a stone Buddha statue and Thompsons had a wife variety to choose from. If youโre looking for anything landscape related you have to at least give them a look
We visited Thompson's today to inquire about gabion cages for a retaining wall. Our assistant at customer service gave us the dimensions of what was available, but when I asked if we could see one, we were told they are not put together, so it would be hard to tell. We headed for our car, deciding the sizes available would likely not be sturdy enough for us. We had a little extra time to kill, so decided to wander the nursery a bit before leaving. I saw a worker (Juan) and asked him if he'd ever worked with gabion cages before, and he said he had not, but someone else there had built some, and he led us to them. They were EXACTLY what we wanted and plenty sturdy, so they will get our order after all. Shout-out to Juan and his knowledge of the products and what's on the premises. If we had not run into him, our search would have been extended for so knows how long!
Attended an event at Thompson Building Materials. From the moment I arrived, Customer Service/Design Center Manager Tracy Bowman was on it! She showed me where to park, helped carry in some heavy bags I'd brought, and answered questions I had. Whenever I had additional questions, she was around to answer. She stayed around until the event was over and was probably the last to leave. I was impressed with her customer service, which is always the goal when one needs customer service but harder to get these days.
Great place to buy landscape elements like edgers, brick, stone, pavers, plus garden art: quite an assortment of fountains and Japanese "stone" lanterns, metal sculptures, plants, etc. The scalloped edgers I was looking for were about half the price HD wanted for them. You find what you need (ask any of the yard workers) and take a photo of the price sign, then go to the office to pay; once you have the receipt and order ticket you find a yard worker who will load the order, drive it to your vehicle and load it in. Be sure you take into account the weight of what you're ordering; many of the products are heavy, so don't load more than your vehicle's suspension can take!
They have a great supply but the customer service is lacking. I wanted to purchase rocks for a project I'm doing on my own. No landscaper. I picked out my rocks and had my measurements. I asked what the process was and they said to pick out rocks, bring measurements to counter and then set up delivery. The first time I went it was extremely busy, no big deal, I went back on a different day. Came back with measurements and counter person said they normally work with landscapers. What does that mean?? He seemed bothered with taking my measurements, he said he had to convert them. My fault I missed my depth measurement. I asked if I could order by phone instead of making another trip. He said, email was ok. Perfect. Called with all my stuff and was told I couldn't because I had to sign a waiver for the rocks. By this time I had been there 3x and no one mentioned this when I asked the process and pointed out the rocks I wanted . Even when I was speaking with a counter person to purchase on two different occasions but was told I had insufficient info. I wish when I initially asked what do I need, I was told complete info instead of making me feel like I was a nuisance. I know they don't care but I'm going to Cascade. The rocks won't be quite what I want but the service is much better.
