Bennett Sand & Gravel

I have been to this location twice due to it being the closest landscape material to my home. The first time was great other than the fact that they are still archaic and take only cash and have no scales to verify weight. They have a minimum cost of roughly $40 per yard no matter how little you take. That wasn't a problem for me since I was happy to max my trailer out for $40 and not have to drive into Aurora. However, the 2nd time, today 7/17/2017, I tried to go and get 3/4 inch rock, roughly the amount that would fill two wheel barrels, I got a much different response. There were two guys with two loaders watching sand filter through their machine. I explained the amount and type of rock I needed. Their response was "I'm not sure, we don't have a lot." I explained my first experience when I purchased some playbox sand for $40 and that I would be happy to pay that amount. Thinking that it would be sufficient. Their reply was "I don't know how much to charge for it and you will need to go find the manager, Jr, who is driving around in a white pickup. Have you seen a white pickup?" (I guess walkie talkies cost too much for this operation). I said no, that I haven't seen anyone but will drive around to go see if I can find him. I drove around and didn't find any other signs of life. I tried calling, no answer. Ended up going to a local hardware store where they sold overpriced river rock in bags. I don't think I'll be going back. It would be nice not to waste my unpaid time trying to find out for them how much their product costs. It's apparent that they don't care much about the public consumer since I've only seen large semi dump trucks there. Well, pretty frustrating, because of their location to me. Great place if what you need is playbox/paving sand. Remember, they only take cash. I was lucky that my wife was able to come with cash since they had already loaded my trailer the first time and THEN told me they only took cash.
