We worked on our rock and mulch landscaping project this weekend with materials from Pitchfork Landscaping. We've used the black rock before and like it for pathways because it settles firmly and the color is nice. Thanks Mark! Updated: we got beautiful chocolate brown mulch today and the beds look so much nicer. Updated: we refreshed our chocolate brown mulch today. We are still very happy with our products and the service from Pitchfork.
In September 2020 I sold Pitchfork Materials a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 and he asked if I would be willing to hold back 7,000.00 on the truck and apply it to an irrigation system. Since my plan was to install irrigation, I agreed providing it was in writing and on his letterhead, I received from Mark a bill of sale, a map of how he would set the heads along with the number of zones and the type of equipment. Mr. Pitchford told me to give him 10 days to 2 weeks notice; he would be in and out in 3 days, they work very efficiently. December 2020 I contacted him to say that I would be ready come early spring. He got a bit short and said that he planned to go to Florida and to get with him in the spring. March 2021 I made numerous calls; he finally texted back and said that he would put me on the schedule. I asked when he would get to me? His reply was “ I don’t know I’ll have to work on it “ . Two weeks went by, still no word from him. I had a bad feeling so I hired an attorney. The finish grade was complete. Since I had to wait till fall to get a different irrigation contractor; it took another 8 loads of topsoil and another final grading. I added pictures to show the erosion. December 2021 the judge decided in our favor and give him a deadline that it had to be paid. Still no word from Pitchfork Materials. Then, I had no choice but to hire a collection’s attorney and he garnished his bank account. Missouri Casenet will tell the story.
Just picked up two yards of dirt that looks great the man in charge treated me like a old friend. I will definitely purchase here again and would recommend this business to anyone.
This is my wife's account of her experience at Pitchfork today. We neglected to read reviews before going there to do business, and we sorely regret it: My dad, who lives adjacent to us, was helping haul sand for our pool. He called Pitchfork (yesterday) to find out the price. He was quoted $31 for limestone sand. We get there and ask for creek bed sand instead. He puts three scoops in the bed of my dad’s truck and one scoop in my trailer. All is well. I go into pay and he charges me $175. I told him we were quoted $31 a scoop. He said creek sand is more expensive - twice the price - and waves it away saying Biden is in office, so things are more expensive. I was annoyed, but paid because I didn’t clarify the price of the creek sand before he scooped it in, which is on me. As he’s processing my card, he looks at me and says, sharply, I told him that on the phone yesterday. Not liking his change is demeanor toward me (I’m the one paying $175 when I expected $90), I go get my dad, confident my dad would have mentioned it being twice the price had he known. When confronted with the discrepancy, the owner immediately starts yelling at both of us, saying we’re accusing him of cheating (we didn’t) and telling him how to run his business (again, didn’t) and he can’t give us that price for creek sand. When there was a lull in his rant, I told the owner that my issue is that he looked at me when my dad was outside and said he (owner) had told my dad the price for creek sand on the phone, but that it was untrue. He then started yelling louder and said he would give me my money back and took the ticket out of my hand. Shaking, I said, fine. Then, resuming his rant again, threw the ticket down and said, “No, never mind! You people always want something for nothing and don’t tell me how to run my business.” Angry and a bit shocked, I told him I wasn’t asking for a refund, but an acknowledgment that he was not honest about his communication on the price with my dad, which he refused to give. Once my dad was present, he steered away from the merit of my dad’s statement and instead, focused on attacking our character as wanting things for free that he has already paid for (again, I never asked for a refund - he’s the one who brought that up). Then, even more appalling, he told us he we doesn’t want our drama (??) and to get out and he would not do business with us. As we’re walking away, he yells that he never wanted to see us again (!?!?). Uhm, no problem there. We said nothing in return. He has his $175. I have (overpriced) sand. He was rude, belligerent, unreasonable, dishonest and frankly, a little unhinged. My reason for the review is not to dispute what he charged, rather, to forewarn people of his behavior should they choose to do business with him. He seems very nice, until…and the switch flips very quickly. Yikes.
Pitchfork is the BEST! I've bought topsoil, compost, mulch, garden soil.... yards and yards over the years. This is absolutely the best ever. Picked up 2 yards last Thurs & 2 yards Sunday (THANK YOU for having Sunday hours!). No tilling needed, it's light & 'fluffy,' and I'm thrilled! Mark is a master loader, too - no mess on the truck bumper, etc. Many thanks, Mark. You have a stellar product! It was well worth the drive.
