Southern Mulch

Their hours of operation are much more convenient compared to area competitors however their prices aren't competitive. I paid $105.00 for 2 yards of mulch when I can get 2 yards, same quality at most area competitors for $75.00. I don't foresee myself going back.

Recommended by a neighbor. You can order online but I had a question so I called. I got my question answered and he was friendly and efficient. We got good mulch delivered on time in the right amount at a reasonable price. We'll buy again.

Over the past 15-17 years I have ordered mulch from Southern Mulch several times - almost always the Triple Ground Hardwood Mulch. It was very high quality, looked great, and lasted a long time. One year I tried a provider that is geographically much closer to me with lower prices and delivery fees and ended up being slightly disappointed in the quality of the mulch so I went back to Southern Mulch for every mulch order for my yard since then. This year when I called I was informed that they had discontinued the Triple Ground product and they offered me Double Ground Hardwood Bark mulch instead which is what I ordered and paid for. However, after delivery I realized that the Double Ground Mulch I received was probably their low quality Double Ground Mulch. It is VERY course and uneven, and contains a lot of trash and many rocks - on average one large rock per every 1-3 pitchforks of the mulch. The picture attached is the sampling of rocks, glass, and trash that I took from ONE gorilla cart load of the mulch. Quality is lower than the provider near me for about twice the price when including delivery. Southern Mulch's quality and/or quality control (either with delivering the wrong product or letting a load like this with so many rocks in it out the door) has clearly decreased so my recommendation is that is not worth it to do business with them unless you are geographically close enough to inspect the material before you pick it up or take delivery.

We purchased Premium Brown Double Ground mulch from Todd and Wes at Southern Mulch and had it delivered. Brandon arrived right on time in the quoted delivery window. The product is excellent. Brandon was an expert, putting the mulch exactly where I asked. We highly recommend Southern Mulch for quality, price and service.

Ordered 7yr of their double ground black mulch. When they delivered, I was really surprised to see how small their 7 yards was. Did some research and found that, unlike other places who basically just full up a bucket and what fits goes as a yard, Southern weighs theirs out to a specific weight per a yard. Unfortunately, after spreading the mulch, I realized there were tons of these small rocks mixed in there. Wish I had known that from the beginning, as I would have collected them and taken them back to get my money back based on the weight of rock. Sad because the mulch that I did get, was pretty decent quality. Just shady business to charge by weight and then find a bunch of rock mixed in.
