Best prices in town for DG, road 2 base, And many other soils. The rules are you have to wear a hard hat and a bright vest. The soils yard is in the back of the complex and the pay trailer is on your way to the back half way through the grounds. The speed bumps are kinda high so drive slow. Lunch time is usually the best time to go to beat traffic.
In my opinion they have the best selection of landscape materials in San Diego. Look for the A-1 Soils signs when you're driving in and you'll be fine. Be cautious of the commercial trucks as you'll be entering a busy site. Be prepared to wear a hard hat and safety vest if you plan on getting out of your vehicle. They can lend you those in the office when you check in.
A-1 soil & aggregate sold out to some soulless china corp and cut out the soil part of their business. Used to be the only decent local source of bulk soil. Another one bites the dust. Shame
the lady helping the drivers to get loaded at the plant/silos, has a very BAD attitude, please management, PLEASE!!!!! do something about it, Screams at drivers knowing that we are going to hold back.
A-1 has moved from the Camino Santa Fe location to Harris Plant Road. The new location is a bit less consumer-friendly than the old one, in a couple of ways: First of all, its location is deeper into the rather industrial complex, with very few signs, and rougher roads. Second, you are required to wear hardhat and hi-vis vest if you'll be getting out of your vehicle, which wasn't a requirement at the old location. They might lend you a hat and vest, if you're an occasional visitor. If you're buying yards of material and have a pickup, no need for the vest, since their skiploader will do the dump into your truck bed. Or, with hat/vest, you can load 2-cubic-foot bags for $8 each. The staff are VERY nice and helpful.
