Holy Cow! Soils

The garden soil mix working great for me in my raised beds. Better quality than what I could get bagged at Home Depot, and for about 40% the price. I required 4 yd.³, four trips up with my pick up truck, and each time was addressed promptly and with a smile both by the office gals and the guys in the loading yard. Compared to the large commercial clients they have, small residential orders may be more busy work than profit for them, but it is a great community service.

I needed a dump truck full of raised bed soil for 8 raised beds this year. I had narrowed it down to 2 places and went with Holy Cow because the other place would not match Holy Cow's delivery price. I am so pleased with the soil and price. I filled the beds with leaves and twigs, covered that with soil, and top dressed that with 2 inches of my homemade compost. My garden has been more productive than ever before. Everything has been bountiful...tomatoes, onions, peppers, herbs, greens, cukes, and squash. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. Plus the delivery driver was professional yet laid back and fun. Highly recommend!

We got garden soil from Holy Cow on two separate occasions. Both batches have been the worst garden soil we’ve ever had. We put beautiful, organic plants in the garden and they soon turned yellow and stopped growing. Holy Cow came and got soil samples for testing, and I had to try for over a month to get the results from them. They offered to help amend the soil with worm castings and mushroom compost at the beginning, but they didn’t follow through with that. They did give us a partial refund. I would recommend getting your garden soil elsewhere.

I had 3 dump trucks worth of Holy Cow soil delivered. The first load was perfect but the other 2 loads were filled with rock and debris. Turns out the screen in the sifter had a hole and lots of rocks got through. After showing them pictures of the rocks, they agreed that it wasn’t good.

Bought 3 yards of mulch for my beds and was persuaded to get the premium mulch to keep weeds out longer. 2 weeks later and the entire bed is completely covered in grass and weeds.
