The Gravel Company

Received an 2 yard order of 2-3” Alabama Sunset just as I had done a couple years ago. 90% of the rock was 1” or smaller and you can see from the pictures that a decent amount of it was just pea gravel. I called them directly and they said their stone can change size and color and nothing they can do. I then reached out over FB with pictures and said they would look into it and nothing. When I order 2-3 rock, I expect to have bigger rocks than pea gravel or 1” rock. Now I have to go out and buy 2-3 in rock to put over the top of this pea gravel and 1” rock they sent me.

I emailed for a quote, which i received quickly. Followed up with an phone call with a friendly person who helped me figure out how much of the white marble rock I needed. It was delivered the next day. I am happy with everything and highly recommend!

This is the first time using them and so far it isn’t going well. I was supposed to have a morning delivery for 5 ton of sand. Called at 10 am and was told there was 2 deliveries in front of me, called at noon and she siaid thd exact same thing. Now it’s 130 and supposedly the truck is loading. Rented equipment and contractor has been here all day waiting at my expense!!! Not pleased to say the least!! What does MORNING delivery mean? I suppose they are on a very different time zone!!!

Slate Rock and Screened Topsoil Purchases On October 5 and 9 I purchased topsoil using the trailer provided. Service at the yard was excellent and the trailer was easy to use. However as I have put down and watered the the topsoil I witnessed the inability of the topsoil to absorb water. Upon investigation and tests the topsoil had/has 30%+ pulverized clay. Research says "soils that contain greater than 30% clay are considered unacceptable as topsoil material because soils with high clay content slow water infiltration and air penetration" The sand level was very low, therefore not offsetting the high clay content.
