Mt Scott Fuel is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youโre gonna get. I LOVE their split firewood, I have now been buying it the last couple of years from them. It burns really well and smells wonderful. During my most recent run over there for firewood, all they had available were racks of fir peeler cores. I was hesitant to buy them for the fireplace, but was convinced by two different people there that peeler cores will burn the same as split firewood. Fir is softwood, so I assumed it would still burn fine and I trusted the employees. EDIT: The wood was impossible to keep lit, and I was very frustrated trying to use these in my fireplace. It seems in part due to my lack of experience with burning this type of wood. I contacted them after seeing their reply to this review, and they did indeed help me return the wood hassle-free. What began as a negative experience ended with me being more confident than ever in their customer service, and I will absolutely be back once the kiln dried split firewood is available again.
I believe every owner of my house has used Mt. Scott fuel since 1954 since It's just up the street. Great product and fair prices. The drop off driver is really precise even when dropping off 7 cubic yards. My favorite stories/ memories from most recent. 1. Discovering 11 surprise black morel mushrooms last spring after I spread fresh bark chips in summer. 2. Splitting a truckload with my two others neighbors and seeing a mountain in my driveway 3. 6am knock on my door from a homeless gentleman exclaiming "YUR DIRTS ON FIRE!" as he ran off. Sure enough the barkdust was smoking and had been all night, very very slowly burning. It became so hydrophobic that it took an hour to soak and mix into the dirt (someones flicked cig). Lesson learned... Water and mix your barkdust in the summer heat. Better yet, avoid barkdust unless you want to carry tweezers in your pocket for 2 years. ๐. The end.
I love my garden soil I get from them - high quality, no bad stuff in it! The people are soooooo kind and so responsive. Itโs always a delight doing business with them
Iโve been doing business with Mt Scott for years. Today I was reminded why. I ordered 2 yards of gravel and requested to be called before it was dumped. I took the day off work but, Missed the call somehow and the gravel was dumped in the wrong place! One call and Mt Scott made it right! Excellent customer service! Spend your money here.
$3 per 5 gallon bucket is a steal for smaller projects. Reasonably priced delivery for bigger ones.
