Lanier Material Sales

The people here are always great and welcome over-the-counter sales individual people as though they really appreciate your business. I’ve used them for supplies for six years now. I dealt with Matt today and he was extremely helpful, answer all of my questions. Any, he treated me as a valued customer.

Yesterday afternoon, I called to check on availability of number 57 aggregate Recycled stone. I wanted to verify that it was there cause other places were out and even though I know, Lanier is usually quite a bit higher than other people that I usually use. I don’t really have a problem with Lanier and they have several convenient locations and there are small material supply company and do a few other things, and I like to support the small, smaller businesses over the larger businesses as being a small business owner myself. I do not use this or any other platform to bash one company or person and build another company or person up. Each individual person is on their own case by case situation, this is very important to me. Yesterday I did not have a very good interaction whatsoever with several different employees. The product that I was given was not 57 gravel. It was more like a number five gravel and it was full of mud. The person loading my 8 ton Dump Trailer dumped a huge pile directly in the center with it being several feet above the rail, not taking advantage of the fact that there was so much sides, space, and corner space that it would’ve been just about level. The gentleman operating the machine appeared to be in quite a rush. I was blown away by how muddy the product was right after this gentleman that worked for this company, loaded it onto my trailer with their front end loader. Then I couldn’t wonder for the life of me why he done such a gigantic pile in the dead center with it protruding significantly above the top, rather then loading it equally, and balanced in the trailer. I was just blown away. Here I made the choice to come to Lanier and I was in a pickle. I walked back in to the office where that very same woman who waved me in, was sitting behind the counter and asked her a question. “ Why is there so much mud in the stone that was loaded in my trailer?” Instead of coming out, or even looking out the window to see if she could at least connect with, or observe what I was pointing out very calmly, but clearly not happy says this “ I don’t know what to tell you all of our concrete aggregate has mud in it” At this point in time I was done dealing with Lanier Materials. I have done business with this company off and on for many years and for the most part, especially with the location close to Wendover Road I have had decent experiences and only had a sour taste in my mouth because of how much higher they were than just about everybody else that I worked with I will not deal with people who do not value customer interactions & service, or take time to listen to their customers and See what they can do to make them extremely happy customers. Unfortunately, 3/4 of that load of aggregate that purchased from Lanier was not able to be used. It was a nightmare! I needed that stone to finish a retaining wall & behind it, and fill the cavity of the retaining wall with the aggregate. I was not able to accomplish my goal because I was not able to use the product that I purchased from Lanier Materials The entire experience from the employees to the product was terrible . Paying $33 a ton for 57 gravel and not getting that correct correct size along with sizable amount of mud makes me shake my head in frustration and disappointment! This is virtually almost double the price that this can be purchased for by several other companies. this really shocked me The supplier that I’ve worked with for a very long time in Charlotte is half that price for what I believed before yesterday was the same product. Check the product before they load it. Otherwise you got another problem on your hand. Very dissatisfied! I gave them a 2-Star for the nice neat piles of different river, aggregate, and other stones in one area to look at without driving all over a supply yard. I hope that this is not the normal product Lanier Materials Sales sells! As of right now, I’m not interested in being treated by the people again the the way that I did regardless if it’s not the normal product! Chris W.

If you're in Charlotte, or surrounding areas and need mulch, sand, gravel, rock, for your hard needs; I highly recommend Lanier Material Sales. From the moment I called (Carrie) not having a clue on the amount of gravel I needed, to the delivery (John), they didn't disappoint. Class act company.

Buyer beware. Ordered stone got an ugly mix of stones and sand, total overpriced trash. Still waiting for the manager to ring me back told me I should have checked the product first, silly me I thought they had some integrity or pride in their products. I've warned the neighbors accordingly. Ripped off!!!

Ordered over 3 tons of quartzite pea gravel last week to be delivered on Friday. The quality of the pea gravel is top-notch, & there wasn’t a bunch of other material mixed in like I feared there would be. The driver was on time & took great care dropping off - he had to navigate around power lines crossing our driveway & adjust the tarp we’d spread out. Couldn’t be happier with this order, we’ll definitely be ordering from Lanier again!
