Not only do they pollute the road and sewers with all the dirt, rocks, chips, debris etc that trucks throw on the ground, but the drivers also pull out in front of others. The other day I witnessed one pull out in front of a school bus, today one pulled out in front of me. No sense of urgency, then they drive well below the speed limit. No safety precautions for your employees/contractors that leave. They really should have a separate back road for trucks entering and leaving since everyone is so incompetent. Also shouldn't trucks be sprayed down to prevent dust issues?
Lousy job on the silver lane HOV entrance ramp, the expansion joints are extremely loud when cars pass over them. It's clack clack clack twenty four seven! Please come back and adjust them so they are quieter, they were never an issue until you did work here!
A very rare exemplary employee I’ve been doing business with Tilcon for over 40 years as have all my neighbors. We have long driveways that need stone replaced every year or two. We live on the Madison side of the Madison Guilford line just off Rte. 80. The North Branford Tilcon is also just off Rte. 80 just a few miles away. One of our neighborhood’s issues with Tilcon is their delivery charge. It’s flat rate and done by areas with one boarder being the Madison Guilford line. They have argued for years that it all works out since they have to go much further and charge the same $125 amount to the people on the far side of the zone. This brings me to the reason for the five star review that offsets all the negative customer relations. Have you ever met an employee that you said, I wish they worked for me? Well last night I met one. Her name is Kim and she’s in the North Branford office. This is someone that cares about the customer and tries to do what’s right to make them happy. Yesterday I ordered my fourth load of stone this year, but I had a dilemma. I didn’t know what to order because the last three loads were all different sizes even though they were all ordered as “3/4” inch. The ¾” just stone is much larger than the ¾” processed largest stone. I just needed two tons of stone for a drainage ditch but since I had to order a 5 ton minimum I wanted the stone to match the size of the driveway stone. My neighbor and I drove to the North Branford location and rang the bell. Someone on the speaker responded that the office is closed for the day. I explained I had an order being delivered at 7 AM and just needed someone to identify three samples of my stone to tell me what size I needed. Kim went way beyond the call and said come to the window (on her own time). She looked at the three samples and said the processed looked like ½” but the stone only was ¾”. I explained all three were ordered as ¾”. She then brought us to another location where they had samples in a box from years ago. Clearly what I had was ½” so I stuck with my order. When she called at 7:00 AM with the price I asked, because they were delivering the 5 ton in a tri-axle that holds 20+ ton could they please make two tickets and ask the driver if he would mind getting a second load of 2 or 3 tons of stone dust that I also need for a patio project since there’s a ton of spare room in the truck. She asked the driver who said no problem. Kim then had to call central dispatch where the billing is done. They said even though I met the five ton minimum they would not allow the driver to make a second ticket for the dust. Does that make any sense? They just don’t have the same care for the customer that Kim has. Kim should get an award. As far as the delivery charge, how difficult would it be to change to so much a mile? It’s pretty simple in this day and age to do Mapquest to the location that takes ten seconds and then everyone is treated fairly. A very loyal customer.
I recognize you to buy your gravel or whatever you need from them they're very friendly and helpful if you don't know what you're really need for your project
Great service and very friendly staff. Would highly recommend them for your concrete, asphalt/paving, and aggregate needs.
