We interviewed several hardscapers before choosing Nate Brown and his crew to tear up our cracked concrete driveway and replace it with a gorgeous paver driveway. We chose him because he clearly had the most expertise in this project and was the best at communicating his knowledge. The project is now complete and we are certain we chose the right guy. He held very firmly to his projected cost and his attention to detail was impressive. Unforeseeable glitches along the way didn’t phase him at all. He had a solid solution to every obstacle. I tend to micro-manage workers at our house, but soon learned that Nate was always a step ahead of my thoughts. The end result, as seen in our pics, was well worth the investment. A paver driveway is the only “forever” driveway. Settling, cracking, staining, etc. can all be dealt with in the unlikely event that would even occur. (unlike a concrete driveway) Over the years we’ve had a bunch of contractors work at our house and have never been 100% satisfied till Nate. Our neighbors and even the UPS guy have stopped by to compliment the newfound curb appeal. Choose Nate and you’ll be happy you did.

These people must be somehow deleting bad reviews on google- they certainly have them on Facebook marketplace. BUYER BEWARE- They are incompetent, entitled, and scammers. We needed 4 loads of fill dirt and after promising delivery and then rescheduling on us over 6 times (yes, SIX, after we had already moved around plans and taken off work) they finally said they’d be out at 8 am yesterday. Showed up 2.5 hours late (again, had taken off work), no apologies or explanation, by then the ground had thawed and they backed up their trailer too far into the hole they were dumping fill dirt into and got it stuck after dumping the first load. And then they ABANDONED it there in our backyard and said they’ll come get it in a few days. We had people hired to level and fence the area that day that we had to cancel. We told them we would get them towed if they didn’t move it and they said “a towing company won’t be able to get that trailer out, it’s going to take us all day”. We called a towing company- they got it out with one guy in 10 minutes. When the towing company got there they said they were scamming us anyway- their trailer only gave ONE FORTH a load and they were charging for a full. We were more than patient and understanding with these people but they were some of the most incompetent and entitled people we have ever worked with. Dont be fooled by their prices, they won’t deliver- and if they do it’ll be a scam and be more trouble than it’s worth 😬

In this economy, we were looking to save some money on fill dirt and mulch. We found this company online and thought it would be a great match; a local small business with decent reviews. Total Materials is much cheaper than most in the area; but there’s a reason for that. It took 3 weeks of rescheduling, vague answers, lies, and all but begging for them to even show up with a single load of fill dirt. When they finally did show up (14 days and 2.5 hours later than promised), they got their trailer stuck and abandoned it on our property. It was about 1/4th full, even though we were paying for an entire trailer load. When we asked them to come remove their trailer, multiple times, at first they said they would; mind you, it was a Friday night and after the experience we had so far with these guys I was skeptical. Turns out, I was right. They refused to come out and get their trailer, they claimed it would take too long to get out. When we said we would have it towed, they said it would be impossible to do and it would take all day to get out. We had a tow company come get it out within 5 minutes. The owner of the tow truck was shocked these guys left the trailer the way they did. Overall, just a very bad experience. While we understand weather can cause delays and issues, the real issue with Total Materials is lack of communication, honesty, and lack of effort. We tried everything we could to work with these guys, but they made it impossible. Maybe our job was too small for them, they acted as if we were their last priority throughout the entirety of our communication. Either way, I could not NOT recommend them enough. Stay away if you want good service, transparency, and a good experience. No telling who all they’ve ripped off while they’ve been in business. LOOK AT THEIR FACEBOOK REVIEWS, WE AREN’T THE ONLY CUSTOMERS WITH THIS EXPERIENCE. Wish we had seen them before committing!

I've bought compost from other places on town and the quality of Total Materials' was much better and for a better price. They even were able to dump it in a tricky spot which saved us hours of shoveling to move it. Highly recommend!
