Bought a full truckload (12 cubic yards) of "Sandy Loam Soil" to help flatten some rough patches in my yard. Driver ran over our main water line causing nearly $2000 in damages for less than $200 of soil. I have received no compensation from GEM. I would advise anybody who buys product from this company to MARK EVERYTHING because they sure wont pay attention. Would avoid buying dirt from this company unless you intend to just fill holes with it. I can attest to several reviews on here that the clay content of the sandy loam soil is much higher than I expected. We have been pulling out huge chunks of it and there is still more to come.
Bought garden soil. Big mistake. DEAD soil. Oklahoma dust bowl soil! No compost, no organic matter. Does not hold moisture, dries and hardens quickly like clay. I worked on my space for two years and trusted their advertised word. I will have to spend as much again to amend and repair the soil. Stupid me. I should have had it tested.
tore up my yard left huge ruts trying to drive across it and turn around instead of backing in, they couldn't even stay on my driveway when pulling in went off both sides causing my driveway to buckle and almost crushed my water service you would think a driver would get out and look before assuming, upon calling them I spoke to a manager who just kept saying it's to be expected, I asked him, so driving off in someone's yard etc when it's rained 4 inches to normal? I was just met with excuses, no apologies, no offer to fix my yard, so now I'm forced to use someone else and spend money to fix what they destroyed. all this for a simple gravel delivery.
I wish I had read the reviews of their garden soil before we added it to our raised beds. I have gardened for several years and this has been the most frustrating and sad year so far, realizing how poor this soil quality is after planting so many things. So many plants have died with the poor drainage. They are correct that it is a โsandyโ loam. It is quite sandy, so it erodes quite easily as well, the sand rising to the top and washing away many seeds and seedlings. They may have other good products but absolutely should not advertise this as โgardenโ soil if there are so many things that need to be added to it to even make it usable for a garden.
This company dropped off some dirt for us, they ended up driving over and destroying our water main, giving us no water for three days. The driver said to call the company about the damages, the company refused to actually cover said damages, these people REFUSE to take liability for their actions! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! Edit: Weve gotten down to the last of the dirt, the bottom is basically all a big chunk of clay! How are these people still in business.
