I've waited 6 months to submit a review. I'm glad I did since I've seen a number of one star ratings over the last year which coincides with new ownership. I'm the homeowner. I set up the job with Seward and the people I hired went to get the stone. Seems there was some type confrontation while picking up. I still haven't gotten a full account of what took place. My people claim a problem with their help and have a video to back up their story. I still wanted to hear from the other side. I tried calling Seward a few times to ask what happened and order more material. They refused to reply for either request. I own a family business thats 71 years old. I could not imagine not getting to the bottom of a situation like this.I'd never turn my back on a custom. You never know who they are. Retail business has these situations built in. Needless to say I will not purchase from people who exhibit this type behavior. Obviously they have little respect for people in general. Your call.
Spoke to them on phone , got price and lead time quick and efficient .will be using them for my next delivery of stone ...Update got gravel delivered and price & quality exceed my expectations. I've used/ called no less than 4 companies in our area & Seward is head & shoulders above the rest. Price, Quality, professional. If you want it all this is the place
We have had several sand and gravel deliveries from Seward. Recently we had several truckloads of washed river sand for our riding arena. The sand is wonderful. The quality is much better than we had where we used to live. The staff are great to work with. The price was reasonable.
Excellent experience dealing with Seward, easy and pleasant. Driver was great, knew how to handle a tough situation on Tara Lane
I have bought 3 loads of crusher run for my driveway on a single axle flatbed trailer with a tarp. The first time I asked for one yard and the loader operator dropped almost two yards into the trailer before I could stop him. I told the operator it was way too much, I asked him to take some off, he said he couldn't due to liability. I weighed out at 4700 pounds on a trailer that was only supposed to take 2900 pounds. With a vehicle that was only supposed to tow 3500 pounds with 350 pounds of tongue weight. This load ended up being 900 pounds of tongue weight. I went to pay and the salesperson said well we can take some off which was the opposite of what the loader operator said. At that point I was just angry and slowly got the load home with no problems. For the next two loads I made sure to control the same loader operator with no problems. I also ordered an entire load of crusher run and asked for a estimate on price, the estimate was really unclear and iffy. The delivery price was more than what the material was for an 18 minute trip to and from my place. Not the kind of markup I was used to getting from Lindsey Aggregates in Oswego. Now I know how good I used to have it. Last experience I showed up on a Friday with the same trailer for another yard, different sales person came out said "can't load you, your trailer has no sides." Got up on Sat, installed sides, drove to there before noon, which is listed on their door and website as winter hours. No one was there. No message on the answering machine, no sign as to why they were closed. Call back next (2nd of Jan) Tuesday, ask if they are going to be there, they say yes. Then they call be back as say they will no longer load trailers unless they are dump trailers as of the 1st of the year. Will not use them again.
